The Five Races in Harmony

Japanese: 五族協和 - ごぞくきょうわ

The idea of ethnic harmony began to be advocated in China from the end of the Qing Dynasty. During the Xinhai Revolution, Sun Yat-sen also advocated the Five Races Under One Another (Five Races Under One) (Han, Manchu, Mongolian, Hui, and Tibetan) instead of the previous idea of destroying Manchuria and restoring the Han Dynasty, and aimed to unify the Republic of China. However, the most well-known idea of the Five Races Under One Another is the national ideology of Manchukuo, a puppet state that Japan established and controlled in northeastern China before the war. Japan envisioned running Manchukuo as a multi-ethnic state on the surface. The "Five Races" refers to the Han, Manchu, Mongolian, Japanese, and Korean peoples who had lived in Manchuria before the Manchurian Incident.

中国で清末から唱えられるようになった民族協和論。孫文も辛亥革命に際して，従来の滅満興漢の主張に代えて漢･満･蒙･回･蔵の五族協和(五族共和)を唱え，中華民国の統合をめざした。しかし，もっともよく知られる五族協和は，戦前の日本が中国東北地方に建国し，牛耳った傀儡国家，満州国の国家イデオロギーとしてのそれである。日本は，満州国を表面的には多民族国家として運営していくことを構想した。〈五族〉とは，満州事変前から満州に居住していた〈漢族，満州族，蒙古族，日本人，朝鮮族〉を指す。
