Yoshiro Seno - Seno

Japanese: 妹尾義郎 - せのおぎろう

A practicing Nichiren Buddhist. Born in Hiroshima Prefecture. After dropping out of First High School in 1909, he came into contact with the Lotus Sutra, and in 1916 formed the Nichirenshugi Study Association. In 1918, he moved to Tokyo and joined Honda Nissho's dojo. In 1919, he formed the Greater Japan Nichirenshugi Youth Association, and in 1920, published its journal, Young People. In 1931, he formed the New Buddhist Youth Association, and published its journal, Under the Banner of New Buddhism. In 1946, he organized the Buddhist Socialist League, and participated in the peace movement, the Japan-China and Japan-North Korea friendship movement, and others. His books include The Diary of Seno Yoshiro.

日蓮主義の実践的仏教者。広島県生れ。第一高等学校を退学した1909年頃，法華経に触れ，1916年日蓮主義鑽仰会を結成。1918年上京して本田日生の道場に参加，1919年に大日本日蓮主義青年団を結成，1920年機関誌《若人》を発行。1931年新興仏教青年同盟を結成，機関誌《新興仏教の旗の下に》を発刊。1946年仏教社会主義同盟を組織したほか，平和運動，日中・日朝友好運動などに参加した。著書は《妹尾義郎日記》など。
