...It is believed with certainty that this continent later separated and moved to form the present-day Africa, South America, Australia, Antarctica, Madagascar, India, etc. To the north of Gondwana, separated by the Tethys Ocean (the ancient Mediterranean Sea), was the continent of Laurasia. It is believed that Gondwana and Laurasia formed a continuous landmass during the first half of the Paleozoic era and the Precambrian era, and this supercontinent is called Pangaea.
