1633‐91 A Romanian chronicler of note. His major works include the Chronicle of Moldova after Aaron and the Chronicle of Moldova-Wallachia. He fled with his family to Podolia in Poland as a child, where he studied the classics at a Jesuit school. He returned to Poland around 1653 and served in the Ottoman Turkish army's campaign against Austria, and also served as a diplomatic envoy to Poland and Istanbul. He was personally pro-Polish and had a friendship with John III, the savior of Vienna. In his later years, he was caught up in a quarrel between nobles and was murdered.
