International labor flow

This refers to the movement of labor across borders. Since labor is inseparable from people, unless there is free entry and exit, the labor market will be divided by country and will be less international than the markets for goods and finance. It is difficult to grasp the total amount of such mobile labor, but in 1985, it is estimated that the number of workers who moved across borders within the EC was 1,863,000, and that the number of people who moved from outside the EC was 2,219,000, while in the United States, the number of people permitted to immigrate was 570,000, and the number of people entering the country for the purpose of working other than immigration was 88,000, and there has been a gradual increase in recent years.

国境を越える労働力の移動のこと。労働力は人と不可分なので，出入国が自由でないかぎり労働市場は国ごとに分断され，財・金融の市場に比べて国際的になりにくい。こうした移動労働力の全体をとらえることは難しいが，ECでは 1985年に域内で国境を越えて移動した労働者数は 186万 3000人，域外国からの移動は 221万 9000人，アメリカでは移民許可者が 57万人，移民以外で労働を目的とした入国者数は8万 8000人という推計があり，近年は緩やかな増加が見られている。
