A city in northern Fukuoka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city on October 1, 1997 from Koga Town, Kasuya County. Due to its proximity to Fukuoka City, food, paper, machinery, and other factories have been established on the sand dunes facing the Genkai Sea, forming an industrial district. The city is connected by the Kagoshima Main Line, Kyushu Expressway, and National Route 3, and many people commute to Fukuoka City. Dairy farming is thriving in the Aoyagi area. 42.07 km2 . Population: 57,920 (2010).
