A city in northern Fukuoka Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city on October 1, 1997 from Koga Town, Kasuya County. Due to its proximity to Fukuoka City, food, paper, machinery, and other factories have been established on the sand dunes facing the Genkai Sea, forming an industrial district. The city is connected by the Kagoshima Main Line, Kyushu Expressway, and National Route 3, and many people commute to Fukuoka City. Dairy farming is thriving in the Aoyagi area. 42.07 km2 . 福岡県北部の市。1997年10月１日粕屋郡古賀町から市制。福岡市に近いため，玄界灘に面する砂丘地に食品，製紙，機械などの工場が立地して工業地区を形成。鹿児島本線，九州自動車道，国道３号線が通じ，福岡市への通勤者も多い。青柳地区は酪農が盛ん。42.07km2。５万7920人（2010）。
