Otomo Muroya

Japanese:
Otomo Muroya

A powerful figure in the Yamato government from the mid-5th century to the end of the 5th century. Son of Takemochi (Takemochi). Father of Katari (Katari) and Omono. However, in the Furuya Family Genealogy, he is said to have been the father of Kanamura, Omono, and Wakuko, and that Katari was the younger brother. According to the Nihon Shoki, he was first seen in the 11th year of the reign of Emperor Ingyaku, when he established the Fujiwara clan for Princess Sotooshi no Iratsume. He became the Daimuri (Great Minister) when Emperor Yuryaku ascended to the throne, and served as such for five generations until Emperor Buretsu. Following Yuryaku's last decree, he put down the rebellion of Prince Hoshikawa that arose after his death. The Nihon Shoki also records that he performed various other activities as a ruler. Muroya is a real person who lived during the rise of the Otomo clan, and is considered to have been a military commander and politician who directly served the royal authority and supported the Mononobe clan militarily. He is said to be the ancestor of the Otomo clan, as well as Saeki no Muraji (Sukune) and Saeki Atai.
