Born: November 16, 1892 in Tokyo, Japan [Died] April 6, 1977. Noh performer of the Tokyo Koryu Kotsuzumi school. 16th head of the family. Real name Masatoshi. Former names Kogoro and Kogoro. Fifth son of Kamiya Naokata. In 1902, he was adopted by Misu Heiji and studied under his adoptive father and grandfather Misu Kingo. In 1904, he made his debut in "Tamura". In 1909, he premiered "Dojoji", inherited the Koryu school's art and took the surname Ko. In 1930, he married into the Ko family. In 1949, he won the Art Festival Award for "Eguchi" and in 1963, he won the Art Festival Award for "Hokazo", and in 1969, he won the Art Festival Award for "Matsukaze". In 1955, he was recognized as a holder of an Important Intangible Cultural Property (Living National Treasure). In 1965, he became a member of the Japan Art Academy. From the Meiji to Showa periods, he was considered the pinnacle of the hayashi world along with Kawasaki Kuen, the otsuzumi performer. His eldest son is Masakage Yuki. His books include "Introduction to the Koryu Kotsuzumi" (1943), "With the Kotsuzumi" (1968), and "The Koryu Kotsuzumi Seifu" (1966-77).
