An ancient kiln from the Tang and Five Dynasties periods was discovered in Huangdao, Shan County, Henan Province, China. In China, during the Late Tang period in the 9th century, kilns were opened all over the country, marking a major turning point for the pottery industry, and the Huangdao kiln was one of these new kilns in northern China. Although there are no detailed excavation reports, the kiln appears to have fired black-glazed and yellow-glazed pottery, and mainly produced everyday utensils. Of particular note is the yellow-glazed pottery that is white-finished and decorated with dotted patterns made using the "flying plane" technique, and many of the remains remain.
