A French poetic school in the late 19th century. They opposed the subjective style of Romantic poetry, and under the influence of positivism, which was popular at the time, aimed to create objective, pictorial poetic style supported by a spirit of individuality and insensitivity, and to refine the techniques of poetic form such as phonology. With Gautier as its pioneer, and Leconte de Lille and Banville as its teachers, this school included poets with unique personalities such as Mendes, Prudhomme, Copé, and Heredia. They developed their literary activities based on Mendes's "Critiques of the Fantasist" (1861), Ricard's "Critiques of Progress" (1863-64), and "Art" (1865-66). In 1866, Lemaire published the first volume of "Anthology of Modern Poetry," which included poems by Baudelaire, Mallarmé, and Verlaine, and marked the group's unification as a poetic school. "Parnass" is the French name of the Greek mountain Parnassus, which is closely related to the Muses. "Modern High Poetry" was published in 1971 and 1976. Madame Biard's salon, where poets of this school gathered, is also unforgettable.
