Asijita - Asijita

Japanese:
Asijita - Asijita

...In ancient times, things worn under the feet were called ashishita, and this is a corrupted version. Today, geta are called ashijita on the islands of Satsuma and southern Japan, such as Yoron Island. In some places, high geta, foot tubs, and rice field geta are called ashida, and in eastern Japan, geta with high sashiba teeth (takageta in western Japan) are called ashida (ashida is a phonetic spelling).

From [Geta]

...Geta is a new word found in documents from the Edo period, written as 下踏 or げた, but since bridge beams, yugeta (a seating platform) and other flat boards with two legs attached have long been called keta or geta, in the early modern period, ashida and bokuri came to be called geta as well. In eastern Japan, high geta are called ashida, in the Amami and Okinawa regions geta are called ashijita or ashijiya, and in the Izu Islands and western Japan geta are called bokuri or bukuri, which are remnants of these names. The part of the geta on which the feet rest is called dai or koura (meaning a wide surface), geta made from a single piece of wood are called renshi geta, and those with teeth inserted are called sashishi geta. ...
