Capitolino (English spelling)

A small hill in the center of Rome, Italy. One of the seven hills of Rome. Its ancient name was Capitolinus Hill. It has been the political and religious center of Rome since ancient times, and many important buildings such as the Temple of Jupiter, the Archives, and the Priest's Office were built here. During the imperial era, victory processions and sacrificial ceremonies were held here. In the 16th century, the ladder-shaped Campidoglio Square was built by Michelangelo, and in its center stands the masterpiece of Roman sculpture, the Equestrian Statue of Marcus Aurelius, with the Capitoline Museums and the Palazzo dei Conservatori facing each other.
