A former town in Sayo District, western Hyogo Prefecture. Occupying the Sayo River basin, a tributary of the Chikusa River, most of the area is covered by forests, producing rice, wheat, soybeans, and shiitake mushrooms. The Kishin Line runs through the area. Kamizuki Castle, the base of the Amago clan at the end of the Middle Ages, was located here. In October 2005, it was incorporated into Sayo District's Sayo Town along with Sayo District's Mikazuki Town and Nanko Town. 91.68 km2 . 5,679 people (2003). 兵庫県西部,佐用郡の旧町。千種(ちくさ)川の支流佐用川流域を占め,大部分が山林で,米,麦,大豆,シイタケを産する。姫新(きしん)線が通じる。中世末の尼子氏の根拠地上月城があった。2005年10月佐用郡三日月町,南光町と佐用郡佐用町へ編入。91.68km2。5679人(2003)。
