Kacho Yoryu
This is the temple journal of Shoren-in Temple in Kyoto. It was compiled by the temple's priest Shindo Tameyoshi at the behest of the 29th head priest of Shoren-in Temple, Prince Sonshin. There is an editor's preface from 1803, but supplements were added thereafter until the end of the Edo period. It consists of one introductory volume, 150 main volumes, and 38 appendices. It was compiled based on the Monyo-ki, and by collecting old records and documents such as the priest's diary. The contents include the "Basic Biography," "Biography of the Head Priest," "Biography of His Followers," and "Biography of the Various Head Priests," and describe Shoren-in Temple and its priests from the Heian period to the Edo period, including the history of the priests, the order of succession, the activities of successive generations, and their relationship with the Imperial Court and the Shogunate.
