A book used for Christian faith education. In English, catechism (from the Greek catechein, meaning oral instruction) explains doctrine to candidates for baptism and believers. Famous works include the Didache from ancient times, and after the Protestant Reformation, Luther's Larger and Smaller Catechism, the Geneva Catechism, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Roman Catechism (commonly known as the Catholic Catechism).
