Ame no Koyane no Mikoto - Ame no Koyane no Mikoto

A deity that appears in the Ame-no-Iwato myth. Ancestor deity of the Nakatomi clan. When the gods performed a ritual to draw out Amaterasu Omikami who had retreated in the Ame-no-Iwato, they recited a prayer (Kojiki). However, if the basis of the Ame-no-Iwato myth is a memorial service, then it should have been Sarume-no-Kimi who was originally in charge of this ritual. The reason this deity appeared there and even became the presiding figure of the ritual (Nihon Shoki, Book 1) is that this deity came into play as the Nakatomi clan became the Fujiwara clan and the political power of the Fujiwara clan increased. He is enshrined at Kasuga Taisha Shrine (Nara City) and Hiraoka Shrine (Higashi-Osaka City), among others.

天岩戸(あめのいわと)神話のなかに登場する神。中臣(なかとみ)氏の祖神。天岩戸にこもった天照大神(あまてらすおおみかみ)を引き出すために、神々が神事を行った際、祝詞(のりと)を奏している（『古事記』）。しかし、天岩戸神話の基盤に鎮魂祭があるとすれば、本来この神事をつかさどっていたのは猿女君(さるめのきみ)とすべきである。そこへこの神が登場したり、さらには神事の主宰者のようになっているのは（『日本書紀』一書）、中臣氏が藤原氏になり、その藤原氏の政治的権力が増大するにつれて、この神が割り込んできたとみるべきである。春日(かすが)大社（奈良市）、枚岡(ひらおか)神社（東大阪市）などに祀(まつ)られている。
