Alp Tigīn (English spelling)

Japanese: アルプティギーン（英語表記）Alp Tigīn

Founder of the Turkish Ghaznid dynasty in Afghanistan (reigned 962-963). He was a Turkish slave and served as the head of the guard for the Iranian Samanid dynasty Abd al-Malik, and in 961 became governor of Khorasan. After Abd al-Malik's death, he rebelled against his master and retreated to Ghazni in 962 to achieve independence. The kingdom was inherited by his son Ishaq and then by three slaves who served Alptigin, but the Ghaznid dynasty was established after the last of them, Subktigin, ascended to the throne (977).
