Red Flag

Japanese:
Red Flag

This is the theoretical magazine of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It is a bimonthly magazine published on the 1st and 16th of each month. It was first published in June 1958, when the Great Leap Forward policy began, and has always followed the style of a white cover with a red title in Mao Zedong's handwriting. The editor-in-chief at the time of its founding was Chen Boda, a brain of Mao Zedong who was ousted in 1970 during the Cultural Revolution, and the opening article of the first issue was Mao Zedong's "Introducing a Certain Cooperative Society." It played a major role during the Cultural Revolution as a party organ that aimed to arm people with theory through Mao Zedong Thought, but it was discontinued with its 12th issue published on June 16, 1988, and was renamed Qiushi in July, edited by the Central Party School of the Communist Party of China.
