A literati painter from the Qing Dynasty in China. Born in Lin'an (Zhejiang Province). His given name was Dailai, his style was Lianshan (one theory goes that his given name was Taijiao, his style was Dailai), and his pen name was Kaipu. He frequently visited Japan from 1804 onwards, and taught literati painting in Nagasaki, which marked the beginning of the Japanese art world learning about landscape painting from the Southern School of painting. He is more famous in Japan than in China. His major work is "The Mountains and the Flying Springs."
