C ₇ H ₇ NO ₂ (137.14). H ₂ NC ₆ H ₄ COOH. There are three isomers, o -, m -, and p -aminobenzoic acid, but o -aminobenzoic acid is usually called anthranilic acid. [ I ] m -aminobenzoic acid: When 3-aminophthalic anhydride is heated with acid, one carboxyl group is eliminated to produce this isomer. Crystals. Melting point: 174 °C. Sparingly soluble in water. Forms soluble salts with inorganic acids. [CAS 99-05-8] [ II ] p -aminobenzoic acid: Widely distributed in nature as one of the vitamin B complexes. Synthesized by reducing p -nitrobenzoic acid. Yellow-red crystals. Melting point: 187 °C. Sparingly soluble in water (1 g/170 mL water, 25 °C). p K _a 4.65-4.80. Many of the esters of this compound are known as local anesthetics, such as anesthesin and procaine. They are also used as synthetic intermediates for dyes. [CAS 150-13-0]

C₇H₇NO₂(137.14)．H₂NC₆H₄COOH．o-，m-，p-アミノ安息香酸の3種類の異性体があるが，o-アミノ安息香酸は，普通，アントラニル酸とよばれる．【Ⅰ】m-アミノ安息香酸：3-アミノ無水フタル酸を酸と加熱すると，カルボキシル基一つが脱離して生じる．結晶．融点174 ℃．水に難溶．無機酸と可溶性の塩をつくる．[CAS 99-05-8]【Ⅱ】p-アミノ安息香酸：ビタミンB複合体の一つとして天然に広く分布している．p-ニトロ安息香酸を還元して合成される．黄赤色の結晶．融点187 ℃．水に難溶(1 g/水170 mL，25 ℃)．pK_a 4.65～4.80．この化合物のエステルにはアネステシン，プロカインなど局所麻酔剤として知られているものが多い．そのほか染料の合成中間体としても使われる．[CAS 150-13-0]
