An industry that manufactures equipment to prevent pollution such as air pollution and water pollution. Japan's rapid economic growth from the 1960s to the 1970s intensified pollution, and public awareness of environmental conservation increased, leading to the strengthening of various pollution regulations, including the Basic Law for Pollution Control that came into effect in 1967. As a result, the demand for pollution prevention equipment increased sharply. In other words, the pollution prevention industry can be said to be a new industry that was born in the late 1960s. Pollution prevention equipment can be broadly divided into (1) air pollution prevention equipment, (2) water pollution prevention equipment, (3) waste (garbage) treatment equipment, and (4) noise and vibration prevention equipment.
