A type of Buddhist name used by those who have faith in Amida Buddha. It is commonly called Amida Buddha's name (or Amida Buddha's name), or abbreviated as Amigo or Ago. It is called Ku Amida Buddha, Kan'ami, Mukai'a, etc., and is used above the Buddhist name in the Jodo and Ji sects. The use of Amida Buddha's name as a Buddhist name can be seen from the beginning of the 11th century, but it seems to have been given by the "Amida Saints" who were descended from Kuya. It began to be used by laypeople after Shunjobo Chogen widely bestowed it on people of all ranks as a means of promoting the rebuilding of the Great Buddha in 1183 (Juei 2).
