1350‐1420 French theologian and author. His Latin name was Petrus de Alliaco. He was a professor at the Navarre Seminary in Paris, a councillor at the University of Paris and at Notre Dame Cathedral, and in 1389 he became confessor to King Charles VI. He became bishop of Puy in 1395 and of Cambrai in 1397, and a cardinal in 1411. He played a major role as a mediator at the Council of Constance from 1414 to 1418. He was also close to Gerson, and showed understanding for Ockham and Nicole Oresme. Although he was not original, he contributed to the enlightenment of the Aristotelian school.
