The Four Great Masters of the Yuan Dynasty - Genmatsu Shitai Ka (English: Yuan-mo-si-da-jia)

Huang Gongwang, Ni Zan, Wu Zhen, and Wang Meng are four great literati painters active in the late Yuan Dynasty. The content of the Four Great Masters of the Yuan Dynasty varies slightly depending on the editor, so they are usually referred to as the Four Great Masters of the Late Yuan Dynasty, following the argument of He Liangjun of the Ming Dynasty, and limiting their time period to a specific period. With the development of civil culture, a characteristic of the Yuan Dynasty, as a backdrop, most of them (except Wang Meng) were independent painters and engaged in painting. The four painters' styles were different and covered a wide range of styles and depictive forms, becoming typical of the Southern School of painting and literati painting after the Ming and Qing dynasties.

中国，元末に活躍した文人画家の4人の大家で，黄公望，倪瓚 (げいさん) ，呉鎮，王蒙のこと。元の四大家の内容は編者により多少異なるため，明の何良俊 (かりょうしゅん) の所論に従い，時代を限って通常，元末四大家と呼ぶ。元時代の特色である市民文化の発展を背景として，多くは在野の画家 (王蒙を除く) として絵画活動を行なった。4人の画風はそれぞれ異なり様式，描写形式の包括範囲は広く，明，清以降の南宗画，文人画の典型となった。
