River port - Kasenko

[Reclaimed and excavated ports]
The creation of ports using river waterways has been an active practice in both the East and the West since ancient times. In Western countries, there are many examples of ports built along rivers (called river ports or river harbors) that are still used as modern ports today, such as the Port of New York, the Port of London, and the Port of Amsterdam. However, in Japan, where there are no deep rivers and many rapids, river ports are no longer used as modern ports. In contrast, river mouths are convenient for water transportation by using the river, have a wide water surface, are blessed with flat land, and have large hinterlands, so in Japan many ports have been built since ancient times, and many of them have developed into modern ports.
