Standard wage - kijunnaichigin

Wages paid for work performed under standard working hours or standard working conditions. Generally, this consists of basic wages, ability-based wages, seniority-based wages, etc. Anything other than this is called non-standard wages, and mainly consists of wages (allowances) paid for work that is not normal work. This classification of wages began with the Densan-type wage system (the wage system won by the Japan Electric Industrial Workers' Union in the so-called "October Struggle") in 1946 (Showa 21), and has since been adopted and spread by many companies. However, there are no general and specific rules for this, and the terms "standard" and "non-standard" do not necessarily match the wage items included within them.

所定労働時間あるいは所定労働条件のもとでの労働の提供に対して支払われる賃金。一般的には、基本給、能力給、勤続給などからなる。賃金のこの部分以外は基準外賃金とよばれ、おもに、正常な勤務以外の労働に対して支払われる給与（諸手当）を内容とする。賃金のこうした区分は、1946年（昭和21）の電産型賃金（いわゆる「十月闘争」において、日本電気産業労働組合が獲得した賃金体系）から始まり、その後多くの企業で採用され、普及していったものである。しかし、その規定について一般的かつ具体的な規定があるわけではなく、基準内、基準外という用語とそのなかに含まれる賃金項目との間にはかならずしも一致しないものがある。
