Fatal illness - a disease that leads to death

Japanese: 死に至る病 - しにいたるやまい
Fatal illness - a disease that leads to death
(Original title: Sygdommen til Døden) Philosophical book by Kierkegaard, published in 1849. He defines despair in the deepest sense as the refusal to become one's true self by standing before God, and defines this as a "deadly disease" for the human soul, and teaches that it can only be overcome by pure Christian faith. The title comes from the story of Lazarus' resurrection in Chapter 11 of the Gospel of John in the New Testament.

A disease that can lead to death

① A disease that is certain to result in death. A disease for which there is no cure. A fatal disease. ② (A word derived from the story of the resurrection of Lazarus in the Gospel of John in the New Testament) A hopeless matter. Despair. In particular, Kierkegaard emphasized this in relation to the human condition, and he has written a book of the same name.
