It is the opposite of the Buddhist term naizai (internal wealth) and refers to assets outside the human body. In the Heian period, naizai was widely used to mean assets inside a house, such as naizai miscellaneous items and naizaimono (internal goods), rather than the original meaning of one's own flesh. On the other hand, gaizai was also written as gaizai (foreign materials) or gaizai (outside the human body), as shown in examples such as gaizai (foreign materials crafts, etc.), gaizai (small amount of outside talent on the road), gaizai (outside the road), and gaizai (the duty of a tribute is a tax imposed on outside talent), and was used to refer to artisans, including those who made handicrafts on the road, and entertainers such as puppets.
