Controlled price system

...The methods of price policy vary depending on the agricultural product, and the degree of policy intervention varies significantly, but if we focus on the methods used, we can classify them into the following six types.

(1) Controlled Price System: Rice and tobacco are the target products. For rice, the government (for tobacco, the Japan Tobacco and Salt Public Corporation; since April 1985, Japan Tobacco Inc.) decides the area to be cultivated, and the amount of rice in circulation, excluding rice for personal consumption, is placed under government control (see the Food Control System entry), and the government purchases the rice at a fixed price.
