Anyu

An old place name in the southwestern end of Shanxi Province, China, where the Yellow River makes a large bend. In 1958, Yuncheng County was newly established and this area is part of that county. During the Qin dynasty, Anyi County was established, which spans the current Yuncheng County and Xia County to the north. Anyi, which is said to have been the capital of Yu of the Xia dynasty and was also the capital of Wei in the early Warring States period, is near Xia County. During the Northern Wei dynasty, the area was divided into two counties, North and South Anyi, which correspond to the current Yuncheng County and Xia County. Huochin, south of Yuncheng County, has been a famous salt-producing area since ancient times.

中国、山西(さんせい／シャンシー)省の南西端部、黄河(こうが／ホワンホー)が大きく湾曲する部分にあたる旧地名。1958年に運城(うんじょう／ユンチョン)県が新設、同県に属する。秦(しん)代に安邑県が置かれたが、これは現在の運城県とその北の夏(か)県にまたがる地域である。夏王朝の禹(う)が都したと伝えられ、また戦国初期の魏(ぎ)の都であった安邑は夏県の近くである。北魏の時代、南北安邑の2県に分かれ、これが現在の運城県と夏県に相当する。運城県南の斛池(こくち)は古代から著名な塩の産地である。
