Jingcun ruins - Jingcun ruins (English spelling)

Japanese: 荆村遺跡 - けいそんいせき（英語表記）Jīng cūn yí zhǐ

This is a Neolithic site located on the loess plateau of Jingcun Wazasha, Wanquan County, Shanxi Province, China. It was excavated by Dong Guangzhong in 1931 and by Wajima Seiichi in 1942. Many of the overlapping pits across three layers have a circular plan, and are wide, flat-bottomed, bag-like storage pits with narrow mouths. Two kiln remains for firing pottery have been discovered. The pottery is of three types: thin, high-quality red-pottery painted pottery, thick gray pottery containing sand grains, and thin, high-quality black pottery, and is mixed in similar proportions in each layer. In addition to ground stone tools such as stone axes, stone knives, and stone hoes (hoe-shaped agricultural tools), bone and horn tools such as bone needles, bone pits, bone and horn arrowheads, and bone and horn combs, as well as clay and shell rings, have been unearthed.

中国山西省万泉県荆村瓦渣斜の黄土台地にある新石器時代の遺跡。1931年に董光忠が，42年に和島誠一が発掘した。3層にわたって重なり合う竪穴の多くは平面が円形をなし，底部が平らで広く口部のすぼまった袋状の貯蔵穴である。土器を焼く窯跡が2個発見されている。土器は薄手良質の紅陶系の彩陶，砂粒を含む厚手の灰陶と薄手良質の黒陶の3種があり，各層に相似た割合で混在している。石斧，石庖丁，石鏟(鋤形農具)などの磨製石器のほかに，骨針，骨錐，骨角鏃，骨角笄などの骨角器や土製の環と貝輪などが出ている。
