In this case, a and b are called the base of the trapezoid, and c and d are called the legs of the trapezoid. If the legs c = d , it is called an isosceles trapezoid. The distance h between a and b is called the height of the trapezoid. If the length of the line segment connecting the midpoints of c and d is m , then m is parallel to a and b , and m = ( a + b )/2.
