Scenery - Keigoto

Japanese:
Scenery - Keigoto
Also called "keiji." Short for "keigoto." In Ningyo Joruri, it refers to the part that is mainly music and dance, and the type of performance and acting that is performed there. When limited to the music (joruri) aspect, it is also called fushigoto. In the 5-stage Jidai Joruri, the representative keigoto is usually placed at the beginning of the 4th stage, and in Sewa Joruri, the double suicide scene is set. In addition, there are often keigoto scenes called "...tsukushi" or "...monogurui" to intoxicate the audience with musical and dance expressions and relieve dramatic tension. Famous examples are "Michiyuki Hatsune Tabi" in "Yoshitsune Senbonzakura," "Nagare no Hashi Tsukushi" in "Shinju Ten no Amijima," and "Kosode Monogurui" in "Ashiya Doman Ouchi Kagami." In Kamigata, Kabuki Shosagoto was also called keigoto.
