Wakayama Prefecture can be divided into three areas: Kihoku, which has the strongest ties with the Hanshin region and a quasi-Seto Inland Sea climate; Kinan, which has the longest coastline and a tropical climate; and Kichu, which is a transitional area between the two. (1) Kihoku: It accounts for about 1/4 of the prefecture's total area, but about 60% of the population.
