〘Noun〙 ("Kin" is the Tang and Song pronunciation of " kei ") A Buddhist implement struck with a stick when chanting sutras. Made of copper or iron, it is bowl-shaped and one or two feet in diameter (one foot is about 30 centimeters). Small ones less than one foot in diameter are called rin . Originally, they began to be used in the Zen sect. Different from kei . ※Kuka Daily Use Contributions Ryakushu - Oan 5th year, July 1st (1372) “ Two zazen bells ringing by themselves in the twilight” ※Ukiyo-zoshi - Kindai Enkakusha (1686) vol. 5 “The sound of the bells ringing from across the abbot's chamber” [Additional note] “Wamyo-sho in 20 Volumes - 4” states “Square bells, virtuoso and music illustrations, cloud bells (Kujyo-han, square bells commonly called Fengqing), hanging 24”, which suggests that the word “kin” was not yet used in the mid-Heian period.Uchi-nashi [kei]Today's Chow [Cycling]Source: The Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary About the Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary Information |
