The color exhibited by mineral powder. It is often different from the color of the mineral. It is shown by the color of streaks that appear when the mineral is rubbed against a white clay plate (streak plate). Since the hardness of a clay plate is about 6, the streak color of minerals harder than this cannot be seen on a clay plate. However, for minerals with a hardness of 7 or more, the streak color usually becomes the same as the color of the mineral. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
