A Danish religious leader and poet. In opposition to the state church, he placed importance on the historicity of Christianity, stressed the connection between the historical individuality of the Danish people and Christianity, and supported Danish nationalism, the spirit of the times, from a spiritual perspective. It is no coincidence that the "National High School" conceived by him was first built in Schleswig, a place of conflict with the Germans. His ideas were inherited by the "Grundtvigians." デンマークの宗教家，詩人。国家教会に反抗してキリスト教の歴史性を重視して，デンマーク民族の歴史的個性とキリスト教との結びつきを強調し，時代精神であるデンマークの国民主義を精神的側面から支援した。彼の構想による〈国民高等学校〉がドイツ人との抗争地スリースウィー(シュレスウィヒ)に初めて建てられたのも偶然ではない。彼の思想は〈グルントビ派〉の人々に継承された。【村井誠人】
