Glyptodon

Japanese: グリプトドン（英語表記）Glyptodon

A genus of mammalian rodent that lived in both North and South America from the Pliocene epoch of the Neogene Period to the Pleistocene epoch of the Quaternary Period. It is a huge extinct genus similar to the modern armadillo. Its entire body, which was about 1.4 meters long, was covered in sturdy armor with horny scales. This served as armor to protect against attacks from enemies. Its limbs were sturdy. When attacked by an enemy, it is thought that it would tuck its neck and limbs under its armor and remain motionless. However, what was useful when fighting enemies was its large bony protuberances. Not only was its skull tall, but the teeth on both sides of its jaws were also tall. It is thought that it ate a variety of things, including plants, insects, and carrion.
