Ruler of the Dzungar Kingdom. Translated as Kardan. After the death of his brother Senge in 1671, he became head of the Dzungar Kingdom and strengthened the sovereignty of the Dzungar Kingdom. In 1678, when he became dictator, he was given the title of Boshokht Khan by the 5th Dalai Lama of Tibet. In foreign affairs, he maintained diplomatic and commercial relations with Russia from 1672, and in the 1970s and 1980s, he took control of East Turkestan. In 1688, he fought and won against the Khalkha princes of Mongolia, but this led to interference from the Qing Dynasty, and in 1690 he entered into conflict with the Qing Dynasty.

ジュンガル王国の君主。噶爾丹と漢音訳される。1671年兄センゲの死後ジュンガル部長となり，ジュンガル王国の君主権の強化に努めて，独裁者となった78年にチベットのダライ･ラマ5世からボショクト･ハンの称号を授けられた。対外的には，72年以来ロシアと外交･通商関係を保つ一方，70‐80年代に東トルキスタンを支配下に入れた。88年外モンゴリアのハルハ諸侯と戦って勝利を収めたが，清の干渉を招き，90年から清と抗争に入った。
