Griffon Bruxellois (species)

Japanese: グリフォン･ブリュッセロイズ[種]（英語表記）Griffon Bruxellois

A pet dog native to Belgium. There are two other types of Griffon: the Belge and the Brabançon. The Brusselöys' coat is reddish brown, while the Belge can be black with brown, black with brown spots, or solid black. Both have coarse hair and abundant hair on the head and muzzle. In some countries, the two are not distinguished and are treated as the Brusselöys. The Brabançon is a short-haired breed, said to have a strong pug bloodline that was introduced during the breeding of the Griffon, or to have been established as a hybrid of the two.

ベルギー原産の愛玩犬。グリフォンには，このほかにベルゲBelgeとブラバンソンBrabançonの2種類がある。ブリュッセロイズの毛色は赤みがかった褐色であるが，ベルゲは黒に褐色の混じったもの，黒に褐色の斑，黒一色などがあり，両者とも剛毛で，頭部，口吻の被毛が豊富である。国によっては両者を区別せず，ブリュッセロイズとして扱っている。ブラバンソンはグリフォンの改良過程で取り入れられたパグの血液を濃く伝えたもの，あるいは両者の混血から固定されたイヌといわれ，短毛種である。
