A Yayoi period site in Ritsurin, Nakano City, Nagano Prefecture. The site is a settlement located on a slight elevation overlooking the old riverbed on the right bank of the Chikuma River, at the western foot of the Nagaoka Hills, which run north to south at the northern end of the Nagano Basin. The site was known as a site where rubbed Jomon pottery from the Middle Yayoi period in the Chubu Mountains had been unearthed, based on the items collected by Kanda Goroku before World War II, but excavations in 1948 uncovered circular pit dwellings. A large number of pottery from the middle Jomon period, pottery mixed with comb patterns, and later pottery using only comb patterns, have been excavated, revealing the transition of the latter half of the Yayoi period in the northern part of the Chubu Mountains.
