A checkpoint located in Kurihashi-shuku (present-day Kuki City, Saitama Prefecture) on the Nikko road. It was established at the crossing of Bosen on the Tone River, which connected with Nakada-shuku (present-day Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture), and was also called Nakata Barrier. In the early modern period, it was under the control of Ina Tadatsugu, but in 1610 it came under the jurisdiction of the Shogunate's senior councilor. In 1631 it came under the control of Ina Tadatsugu, the Kanto Gundai, and from 1792 it came under the direct control of the Shogunate's Finance Magistrate. The checkpoint was staffed by four families, Kato, Adachi, Tomita, and Shimada, who were allowed to receive 20 straw bales of rice and two people's stipends, and the position was almost hereditary until the checkpoint was abolished in 1869. The scenery of the checkpoint is depicted in the Bunken nobeezu (maps of the entire area), and the hours of passage were from six in the morning to six in the evening.
