Mount Kurama

[1] A peak of Kitayama in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It faces Mt. Kibune to the west. National forest preserves the atmosphere of deep mountains, and Kurama Temple is located on the middle slope. Kurama. Kurama no yama. → Additional notes on "Kurabuyama (Ambuyama)" [2] Nagauta. Lyrics by Kawatake Mokuami. Music by Kineya Katsusaburo II. First performed in 1856 ( Ansei 3 ) at the Edo Ichimuraza Theater. In the Kuramayama scene of "Joro no Makoto Osada no Chuko ," in kabuki it is called "Kuramayama no Danmari," and is followed by a silent chant. This is a Osatsuma-style piece used in the fight scene where a tengu attacks Ushiwakamaru. A revised version for practice has been preserved.

[一] 京都市左京区にある北山の一峰。西方の貴船山と対する。国有林が深山の趣を残し、中腹に鞍馬寺がある。くらま。くらまのやま。→「くらぶやま（暗部山）」の補注[二] 長唄。河竹黙阿彌作詞。二世杵屋勝三郎作曲。安政三年（一八五六）江戸市村座初演。「倡女誠長田忠孝(じょろのまことおさだのちゅうこう)」の鞍馬山の場で、歌舞伎では「鞍馬山のだんまり」として、この後にだんまりをつけて演じる。牛若丸に天狗が襲いかかる立ち回りに用いた大薩摩風の曲。稽古用に改訂した曲が伝存。
