An American food manufacturer and the world's largest dairy manufacturer. Founded in 1923 by the merger of two dairy companies, National Dairy Products has grown by merging with many other companies. It merged with Kraft Foods, which had been active overseas for 30 years, to enter the cheese industry in earnest. In the 1960s, it diversified into frozen foods, snack foods, instant foods, and chemical products, and changed its name to Kraft Corporation in 1969 and to Kraft in 1976. Its main business is cheese, but it also produces various dairy products, edible oils, preserved foods, confectionery, fruit juice drinks, ice cream, and other products, as well as food for commercial and school use, glass containers, packaging materials, cooking utensils, small electrical appliances, roller skates, and toys. In 1980, it merged with Dart, a company that produces Tupperware, to become Dart & Kraft.
