Year of death: Tenchi 3.6 (664) Year of birth: Unknown An imperial princess from the mid-7th century. Her father was Emperor Bidatsu, and her mother was the daughter of Ise Oshika-kubi Oguma, who became a court lady [G7EDF Nako/Unako]. She is also known as Takara-o, Nukshirohime-o, Tamura-o, and Tamura no Hime. She became the wife of her half-brother, Prince Osasakahikohito no Oe, and in the first year of the reign of Suiko (593), she gave birth to Prince Tamura (Emperor Jomei), as well as Prince Nakatsu and Prince Tarano. She was the grandmother of Emperor Tenchi, and was honored with the title Shima no Omo no Mikoto. She is thought to have lived a very long life. She was buried in the Osasaka Tomb (Oshizaka, Sakurai City) within the tomb of Emperor Jomei. The name Tamura comes from the name of the land that is now Amatsujicho, Nara City.
