The Rules of the Treasure

Japanese: 蔵方之掟 - くらかたのおきて

This law on pawnbrokers was issued by the Sengoku daimyo Date Tanemune on March 13, 1533 (Tenbun 2). It consists of 13 articles and has survived as an appendix to the provincial law "Chinkaishu" enacted three years later. Its contents include provisions on the approximate months for pawning, provisions for cases where the pawnbroker loses or damages the pawned item, provisions for cases where stolen goods are pawned, and provisions on interest. It can be said that it was enacted under the influence of the Pawnbroker Law of the Muromachi Shogunate, but compared to the Shogunate law, it has a stronger tone of protecting pawnbrokers. 1533年(天文2)3月13日，戦国大名伊達稙宗（たねむね）が発布した質屋に関する法令。13ヵ条よりなり，3年後に制定された分国法《塵芥集》に付記されたかたちで伝存する。内容は，質の約月の規定，質屋が質物を紛失･損傷した場合の規定，盗物を質物とした場合の規定，利子規定などである。室町幕府の質屋法の影響下に制定されたといえるが，幕府法にくらべ質屋保護の色彩が強い。塵芥集【勝俣鎮夫】
