A color attribute, which indicates the brightness of an object's color. Color has three attributes: brightness, hue (red, green, blue, etc.), and chroma (color saturation). Both chromatic colors (colors with a hue) and achromatic colors (white, gray, black) have brightness. In the Munsell color system used to indicate color, brightness is expressed by the Munsell value (symbol V). V is set to 10 for white with a luminous reflectance (symbol Y) of 102.56%, 0 for black with a luminous reflectance of 0%, and the values ​​between them are scaled in equal steps, such as 9, 8, ..., 1, according to the perception of brightness. The achromatic color scale, created by arranging achromatic color chips in a row in the order of V, is useful for determining the brightness of an object's color, like a ruler for length.
