Japanese: 熊野[市] - くまの

A city in the southern part of Mie Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1954. Its center is Kinomoto, which faces the Kumano Sea and is on the Kisei Main Line. The city area is made up of mountainous land that is part of the Kii Mountain Range, and 80% of the city is covered by forest, which produces a lot of timber and is a thriving lumber industry. Mandarin oranges are grown on the mountainside, and fishing is carried out along the coast. The city is known for its Nachi-guro grass, which is used to make go stones and inkstones. Onigajo, Shichiri-mihama, and the Kitayama River basin belong to Yoshino-Kumano National Park, and it is home to Dorokyo Gorge, a scenic spot. In November 2005, Kiwa Town in Minamimuro District was incorporated. ^{373.35 km2} . Population: 19,662 (2010).
