A former town in Kumage County in the southeastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture. Yobisaka, located in the center of the area where the Iwateku Line, Sanyo Expressway, and National Route 2 pass through, is a former market town along the Sanyo Expressway. The town produces rice, wheat, timber, and mandarin oranges, and also raises dairy cows. Yatsushiro is famous as a migratory site for cranes (a special natural monument). It is home to Mitsuo Onsen. In April 2003, the town merged with Tokuyama City, Shinnanyo City, and Shikano Town to form Shunan City. 70.50 km2 . Population: 16,038 (2000).
