It has two sources, the eastern source Gongshui in the Wuyi Mountains, and the western source Zhangshui in the Dayu Mountains, one of the Nanling Mountains, and they join at Ganzhou. The character Gan is a combination of the two characters Zhangshui and Gongshui. After joining, the Ganjiang flows north through Ji'an, Zhangshu, and Fengcheng before reaching Nanchang, where it branches into a dozen or so branches and flows into Lake Poyang. It is 758 km long. Its drainage area is over 80,000 square kilometers, making up more than half of Jiangxi Province, and the river is navigable downstream of Ganzhou. Japanese:
